Reels Play Bonus Program

You’ve seen them.

 

You’re scrolling through your Instagram or Facebook feed and music starts playing. Someone pops on screen, along with some words that they’re pointing at, and you can’t look away. Or, there’s some aesthetic that goes along with the music. Or, the person on screen is talking and their words are captioned as they talk.

 

You’ve found the land of Reels.

 

Reels are the Instagram, and now Facebook, answer to TikTok. They are short videos, up to just 60 seconds, that are easily augmented by music, effects, and other features. It is the most rapidly growing component of both Facebook and Instagram, with the platform algorithms giving higher priority to content creators who use them.

What you might not know is that you can actually receive income from using Reels. There are options for content creators to make money through ads and engagement, as well as the new bonus program. Instagram and Facebook have recently rolled out the Reels Play Bonus Program, offering content creators a chance to make money through Reels.

 

What’s the Reels Play Bonus Program?

 

The new Reels Play Bonus Program is currently an invite-only program for content creators who agree to the program rules. Creators earn a financial bonus directly from Instagram or Facebook as long as they are eligible.

Essentially, the program allows content creators to earn a bonus for every reel that gets at least 1,000 views over a 30-day period. Creators can earn up to $35,000 a month through this program.

 

How Does the Reels Play Bonus Program Work?

 

Through the Reels Play Bonus Program, eligible creators will be able to earn money directly from Instagram. Here’s how:

 

• Eligible creators will be notified through their professional dashboard on the app.

 

• Once the creator is invited to the program, they will have to accept the invitation by the eligibility cut off date.

 

• Creators have 30 days to earn the bonus after they get started.

 

• Throughout the 30 day period, creators can use as many of their Reels as they would like towards the bonus.

 

• Money will be paid based on each Reels’ performance.

 

How Does a Creator Choose Which Reels to Count Towards the Bonus?

 

Creators can easily choose which Reels count towards their bonus.

 

• Before publishing their Reel, they need to select the “Reels Play Bonus” option from the Bonuses page. This can be done for up to 24-hours after the Reel has been shared.

 

• Reels published on the last day of the month will not be eligible for the 24-hours after option. These Reels will need to be selected by 12am pacific time to count for that month’s bonus eligibility.

 

Are There Any Reels that Cannot be Used in the Bonus Program?

 

Most Reels will be eligible for the program except for those that fall into a few categories.

 

• Branded content is not eligible.

 

• Reels that can be claimed by a rights holder are not eligible.

 

• Reels with three violations will have a 30-day cool down period from bonus eligibility. If the creator wins an appeal, the bonus will be reinstated on that Reel from the moment of the decision.

 

 

Keep an Eye Out for Your Invite!

 

With the Reels Play Bonus Program just beginning to get rolled out, invites are on their way to a select group. If you’re a content creator, keep your eye out in the months to come as the program starts to take off.

Remember, you can make up to $35,000 in 30 days with the bonus program. While you’re waiting for your invite, you can start planning, creating, and saving Reels so that when it comes, you’re ready to roll.
